The Naija7wonders project, a domestic tourism initiative dedicated to promoting Nigeria Tourism as a global destination and a significant economic recourse for post pandemic recovery, as today listed Tourism Business Synergies – (TBS) International as the “Most Improved Industry Player for 2020″.

TBS International, a destination marketing and management company promoting and marketing Osun Tourism, while advocating for eco-friendly and SDGs-compliant travel and tourism experiences in Africa, has toppled the list in this award category.

Earlier in the year, on April 16, 2020, just three (3) weeks into the pandemic lockdown, TBS International became the first tourism organization in Nigeria to launch the Post-Covid19 Recovery Webinar series for the Tourism Industry in Africa tagged, “Aviation, Tourism & Hospitality PostCovid19 Recovery Webinars”, which held weekly for eight (8) consecutive weeks with panelists and audiences spanning across Africa and the Middle East including Government Agencies, Airlines, Hotel Chains, DMCs, DMOs, Tour Operators, Travel Agencies, as well as eminent Presidents & CEOs of Tourism Boards across Africa.

In June 2020, the Post-Covid19 Recovery Webinar Series metamorphosed into the “Africa Destinations Webinar”, curated by TBS Africa and dedicated to promoting African tourism destinations for Africans both within the continent and in diaspora, with special focus eco-tourism destinations. On June 25, 2020, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Agency, MTPA, launched the maiden edition of these series with special coverage of unique attractions, hotels and resorts in the beautiful African Ocean Island of Mauritius.

Others in the award category includes KALO Africa Media, an independent Media Agency Promoting African Tourism and destinations.

In another Award Category Osun State conspicuously made it as 3rd Best Tourism State in Nigeria, having made a very significant move in November 2020 to rebrand and promote tourism in the State with the official launch of her Osun State Tourism Master Plan tagged “CUTOSEC – Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Economy – Vision Sterling 30-30”, an historic event which was chaired by Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of the State, and organized by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, as led by the Honorable Commissioner, Dr. Adebisi Obawale, in partnership with Sterling Bank.

After the launch, TBS International hosted the Hon. Commissioner of Culture & Tourism for Bayelsa State, Dr. Iti Orugbani, and his team, as well as other dignitaries to a half day City Tour of Osun Osogbo Sacred Groove, Centre for Black Culture & International Understanding (cultural and historical sites), including the Osogbo PHCN Power Distribution Head Station and the new five (5*) star LAIM Hotels all in Osogbo. Afterwards, Dr. Adebisi Obawale led his counterpart from Bayelsa State, and his entire team on a tour of the Genesis Art Gallery, a newly established private art gallery in the State.

In late August 2020, Captain Emmanuel Great, Founder & CEO at TBS International, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, State of Osun, had promoted Owala River, Oba Oke and Olumirin Waterfalls, Erin-ijesha, as top destinations to visit in Nigeria during the 13 weeks Naija7wonders Zoom Webinar Series

Lagos State toppled the list of Top Tourism States of 2020 while . Other states who made the list in this category are: Ekiti State, 2nd Position; Plateau State is 4th position for hosting of NAFEST 2020; Oyo State, 5th;  Akwa Ibom State, 7th; Kebbi State, 6th position for Argungu Festival; Bayelsa State, 8th position. Cross Rivers and Rivers States made 9th and 10th position respectively.

As TBS Africa launches the 1st series of its virtual edition of the “Africa Tourism & Virtual Summit 2020 – 2030” tomorrow, the management of this organization whose mission is to promote sustainable and climate-friendly travel and tourism in Africa has declared its full support for the “UNWTO’s SDGs Global StartUp Competition”.

According to UNWTO, this initiative serves as a clarion call to reach the most disruptive startups that directly contribute to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TBS Africa, the only climate-friendly tourism organization in Africa currently leading the Tourism4SDGs advocacy for the achievement of the SDGs 2030 in Africa through the harnessing of tourism potentials on the African continent, has therefore keyed into this initiative to promote tourism startups in Africa through this competition.

Led by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the UN agency responsible for promoting sustainable, accessible and inclusive tourism, this Competition aims to encourage the global innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem to embrace sustainability and to deliver impact during the United Nations Decade of Action starting this year.

Bringing together stakeholders from a variety of sectors across the economy, this initiative sets out to reach a common goal, to set innovation at the forefront of sustainable development in corporations and destinations.

Due to its active work with startups, the sector has reached safe and experiential travelling as never before. Now, it is the time to bolster this joint effort with entrepreneurs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals through new ways of tackling global challenges. this year.

The worldwide COVID-19 outbreak has brought the world to a standstill and both, civil society and the private sector have been severely affected. Consequently, the pandemic jeopardizes all of the progress achieved thus far in terms of sustainability.

Against this backdrop of heightened uncertainty, tourism’s proven resiliency and dynamic nature can be harnessed to support and reinforce recovery. Given the sector’s capacity to create jobs and increase inclusiveness, UNWTO calls for a transversal, cross-sector approach to boost sustainable development all over the world.

The National President of NANTA, Madam Susan Akporiaye, has added Mauritius to her bucket list of MUST VISIT African Destinations, as soon as the African borders are open.

She made this assertion while participating on the 1st edition of the TBS Africa Destination Webinar series which launched today. While commending TBS Africa for launching the laudable initiative of the Africa Destinations Webinar, Madam Susan, the very articulate advocate of domestic tourism in Nigeria and Africa, and National President of the most organized tourism industry Association in West Africa, graced the 1st edition of the webinar series in her usual bold, charming and electrifying style.

As a follow up on our commitment as promised to industry stakeholders, and garnered from the laudable success of the Post-Covid19 Recovery Webinars, TBS Africa has successfully delivered on her promise of promoting African destinations to Africans in fulfillment of her Tourism Industry Recovery Action Plan for Africa.

This #1 edition in this new webinar series hosted by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, MTPA brought together travel agencies, tour operators, DMCs, DMOs, all across Africa to learn the beauty of Mauritius as an incredible African destination product.

Amrita Craig, standing in for Mr. Arvind Buhundu, President, MTPA, took her time to diligently respond to participant’s questions after her well delivered presentation, reiterated that Ethiopian Airlines currently do not fly into Mauritius while African airlines like South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Air Mauritius and Emirates Airlines can connect Africans to the Island. She maintained that Mauritius has been acknowledge and approved as Covid19 FREE by the World Travel & Tourism Council, WTTC, and as such all Africans are welcome to visit and explore Mauritius once the borders are opened.
